Russell Bogdan is a painter of landscapes and figures with over 25 years of experience doing commissions, exhibitions and teaching. He's influenced by a variety of European and American masters who pursued a classic approach. The sheer versatility of his subjects and methods sets him apart from others (including his background in mural painting). Avoiding the typical photographic manner of the mainstream, Russell instead strives for a traditional approach, working directly from nature and his imagination.

Aside from the works offered in his gallery, much of his output has revolved around the time honored path of patronage. He's received numerous commissions from designers, architects, celebrities, Senators and private collectors internationally, including the United States Capital.  He's been featured on the cover of International Artist magazine and has taught at the Smithsonian, (former) Corcoran school and has conducted workshops at the National Gallery of Art. His interest in historical methods prompted a solo exhibit and lecture given by him at the Thomas Cole Museum (NY). After living in Italy for a year (studying independently) he’s made repeated trips to Europe to conduct research for an educational book project on classical art. His gallery (open by appoint.), studio and school are in the Hudson Valley (NY).
